In New Zealand, outdoor fireplaces must be situated at least 1 metre away from any building or legal boundary. However, to light the fire, a permit may require a minimum distance of 3 metres from structures, hedges, or other combustible materials. CLEANING & MAINTENANCE:
Corten or powder coated steel fire pits will naturally develop surface rust over time—this is not a defect but a natural process.
To maintain black powder-coated fireplaces, clean it with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly. Grates should be coated with a thin layer of edible oil regularly to prevent rusting. Use a cover if applicable when not in use to protect from the elements. If the surface becomes scratched, clean and repaint the area to prevent rust formation. Avoid excessive heat from large, blazing fires, keeping temperatures at a moderate level ensures long-lasting performance and preventative peeling.
